Horse-radish

It is the root which is used to make eye-watering horse-radish sauce, but the leaves taste pretty feisty too (just be careful if you taste the leaves because #dogwee). It’s a tough very long-lived perennial that reproduces easily from a bit of broken root, which explains why a garden/allotment plant is found growing out in the wild…although it is usually near habitation of some sort.
