Viper's-bugloss

This biennial forms a rosette of leaves in the first year out of which a spike of blue flowers erupts during the summer the next year.
There is a spectacular patch of it near the Steel Works at South Gare growing on the weathered slag and also some on ‘Blue Mountain’ just near St Germain’s Church at Marske, otherwise scattered on sandy bare-ish places.
