Saltburn to Skinningrove

This site stretches from Saltburn Cat Nab to Skinningrove and includes flora lying between the cliff edge and fields behind; the plants on the banks above Cattersty sands and on the dunes, plants on the jetty and on the banks near to Skinningrove. Plants on the cliff top include dyers greenweed used in the past for dyeing cloth and plants like saw-wort at the most northerly part of their range. At Cattersty large amounts of slag were tipped over the cliffs giving rise to unusual floras. Land reclamation of the former blast furnace site on the cliff top introduced a number of other alien species.
