Antirrhinum majus

We are all so familiar with this flower growing in the garden that it seems strange to find it growing so happily on the weathered slag at South Gare…looking like it’s been there forever. It grows as a short-lived perennial and is present in all sorts of colours. Elsewhere along our coastline it can sometimes be seen growing out of a stone wall, or somewhere similarly free-draining.
