Astragalus danicus

A vulnerable Red Data List species nationally which has long been declining in the south where the chalk downlands it grew on have been ploughed. Ironically it is doing well and spreading at South Gare on land which has been created from dumping industrial waste (slag from the steel industries). It is very beautiful and always worth the trip to see in flower…though it is rather small and you will have to get on your hands and knees to really appreciate it.
