Carex arenaria

We found this growing in large patches at the sea edge of the sand dunes at the bottom of the concrete steps below St Germain’s church at Marske. It was doing its best to look attractive in a low-key rusty brown sort-of way, but it was quite a cold windy day and I’m not entirely convinced everyone on the walk was as interested as me in standing still to look at it.
