Dianthus deltoides

A native perennial that grows on dry sunny areas but is also grown in gardens so it is difficult sometimes to know whether a population of plants is a native one or some garden escapes that have established. Easier to spot on a sunny day as its flowers close on dull days and the plant seems to fade into the grass without the bright pink flowers. Only at South Gare along the Cleveland Coast as far as I’m aware, and it won’t be easy to find there either.
