Dactylorhiza purpurella

This rich purple-flowered hardy orchid can be found in the hundreds, if not thousands, in the damp areas behind the dunes between Coatham Dunes at the end of the golf-course and South Gare and then also in the wetter grassland areas on the seacliffs. We are one the southernmost part of its range as it mainly found north and west of the Tees Valley.
